8 Ways to Style a Blazer

8 Ways to Style a Blazer

I love taking classic and timeless pieces and styling them multiple ways. There is nothing like being able to wear one piece of clothing so many different ways…am I right? A black blazer is a closet staple and today I am sharing 8 ways to style it!

FYI: blazers are NOT just for business! They can be worn with jeans, t-shirt dresses, and even sweatpants! The blazer I’m wearing here is super affordable and from Amazon! TAP HERE TO SHOP

1. All Black with Turtleneck

In my opinion, you can never go wrong with an all-black look. It’s so classy and chic. I love pairing a turtleneck or mock neck under blazers and layering necklaces on top.

2. Dressy

This is an easy way to dress up a blazer for a nice business look or even a date night! Throw on some heels and a nice dress and you’re good to go.

3. Business Casual

The classic business casual look. Elevate your classic jeans and a button-down with a blazer! I love pairing this outfit with sneakers of course!

4. Hoodie & Sweats

This may be my favorite way to wear a blazer. It’s such a unique way to wear it. But you can even wear your comfiest sweatpants and hoodie and when you add a blazer, the outfit looks so much nicer!

5. Jeans & Heels

Take your go-to casual outfit…your favorite jeans and top and dress it up with some heels and a blazer!

6. Fitted Midi Dress

Another one of my favorite ways to style a blazer! You can dress it up with heels for a nice business look or dress it down with sneakers for a more casual look.

7. Plaid Pants & Turtleneck

This is a trendy way to style a blazer for the office! Workwear can be so plain and boring, take some plaid pants and a blazer and turn your business style up a notch.

8. T-Shirt Dress & Combat Boots

A comfy and trendy way to style a blazer. Elevate your t-shirt dress by adding a blazer.

Hopefully, this was helpful and gives you a little blazer style inspiration! I will add that I love oversized blazers or blazers that are longer in length. I don’t think the ones that hit at the waist are very flattering. I’ve linked everything that I can here! TAP HERE TO SHOP

When & How to Accessorize

When & How to Accessorize

Accessories are KEY to a good outfit! Hats, jewelry, headbands, scarfs….you name it, I love it! Sometimes knowing if or when you should add accessories to an outfit is tricky. It’s tough to know if you’re going overboard or if you’re not stepping out of your comfort zone enough. I’m sharing with y’all how I decide what accessories to add to my outfits and when!

When to Accessorize

If you have an outfit that is pretty boring, the best way to spice it up is to add accessories. Don’t get me wrong, I like this midi dress BUT the thing that makes me LOVE it is the countless ways you can accessorize it!

I love adding a belt to dresses that are a flowy fit. Not only does it add a statement piece, but it clinches the fabric to add a more flattering look. If you know me, you know that my FAVORITE accessory is hats. I think sometimes a hat is so bold that we feel almost embarrassed to wear them. My momma always taught me to be a leader and not a follower. THIS STANDS WITH FASHION TOO, LADIES! Don’t be scared or embarrassed. If you like the outfit, wear it! BE YOU!! BE BOLD!!

With this outfit, I wanted to add two statement pieces: the belt and the hat. With that being said, I went with a thin gold hoop earring and sneakers to give the outfit a little more casual, relaxed and street style look.

When to Keep it Simple

If your outfit has a lot going on, keep the accessories simple. If my outfit is plain, my go-to accessory is a statement pair of earrings. I’m someone who always wears some sort of jewerly. However, my outfit will determine how bold I go. Sometimes, the more simple you go, the better.

I LOVE this dress and am OBSESSED with the ruffled detailing, flowy sleeves and smocked top. However, this is the perfect dress to go easy on the accessories. You don’t want to add a statement accessory like a hat or big pair of earrings. I had statement earrings that matched this dress perfectly. When I put them on, I knew instantly it was too tacky. It also took away from the dress which you don’t want to do.

I decided to go with a simple 1″ lavender headband to match and my favorite Kate Spade pearl earrings for a more classy look.

Don’t be afraid to add statement pieces to your outfits. Sometimes stepping out of your comfort zone is the best thing you can do. You may stand out. You may not look like everyone else or wear the same things everyone else wears. That is OK! That’s what makes you different. That’s what makes you YOU! Embrace your style and ROCK IT! You are beautiful in everyway!

The Cardigan You Can Dress Up or Down

The Cardigan You Can Dress Up or Down

I’m a firm believer in making the most out of the items in your closet already. Reality is that we can’t just go out and buy a new outfit everytime we want it. What we do have to do is find different ways to wear and pair the things we already have.

When I first got this gray hooded cardigan sweater (IT IS ON MAJOR SALE RIGHT NOW!) my first thought was that it would be perfect for a cozy and comfy fall day. I paired it with some comfy leggings and a simple tee. I later decided to add jeans into the combo. Optimizing your pieces of clothing means you think of every possible opportunity to wear each piece. Whether you’re dressing it up or down, I promise there are multiple ways to wear all the items in your closet. I can’t even count the number of times these black jeans have been worn with so many different combinations. Oh, and these comfy Clarks are perfect for fall.

A Day At The Races

A Day At The Races

It’s October in Kentucky, y’all! That means many things, but one is fall season at Keeneland. A full month of horse racing and fine dressing, does it get much better than that? A day at the races is a Kentucky tradition.

What I pick to wear to the spring meet at Keeneland is much different than my picks for the fall. Spring meet outfits consist of florals, bright colors, and fascinators. My fall picks are full of neutral colors, plaid, and textures.

Bows & Plaid

This plaid skirt screams fall. I matched up the plaid with a light blue, breezy, bowed top. The suede black stripes down the sides of the skirt are a statement detail. So I paired the outfit with simple, black, suede heeled sandals. I CAN’T stress enough that your shoe choice for Keeneland must be functional! I’m not a Keeneland BETologist, but a 6-inch pair of stilettos is probably not going to be a winner. You can shop this exact top at https://www.amazon.com/shop/sara.j.baker for only $23!

Classic Two-Piece

I’m all about a classic two-piece. Navy is one of my favorite fall colors and this fun, full skirt is perfect for a paired of ruffled heeled mules. I spiced this two-piece up with some gold jeweled earrings.

Simple Sweater Dress

Sometimes I believe the more simple an outfit is, the better. This sweater-textured dress is a neutral color and perfect for fall. You don’t need to add unnecessary scarfs, necklaces, or accessories to make this outfit pop. Add a simple black clutch to hold your necessities and a comfy pair of black heeled-sandals. I’m also all about budget-friendly fashion and this dress is under $15.
